AISI 4140 steel is a low alloy steel containing chromium, molybdenum, and manganese. It is widely used across numerous industries and is an excellent material choice due to its toughness, high fatigue strength, and abrasion and impact resistance. AISI 4140 alloy steel has high ductility. It can be formed using conventional techniques in the annealed condition. It requires more pressure or force for forming because it is tougher than plain carbon steels. the mechanical properties of this steel will be affected if it is welded in the heat-treated condition, and post-weld heat treatment should be performed. After the annealing is complete, the steel is heated to a molten phase again so that it can be poured into the desired form and can either be hot worked or cold worked through rollers or other tools to reach the desired thickness. Of course, there are other special operations that can be added to this to reduce mill scale or improve mechanical properties. AISI 4140 is a low alloy steel. Low alloy steels rely on elements other than just iron and carbon to enhance their mechanical properties. In AISI 4140, additions of chromium, molybdenum, and manganese are used to increase the strength and hardenability of the steel. The additions of chromium and molybdenum are why AISI 4140 is considered a “chromoly” steel.

The SS 409 round bars are basically Ferritic steel that is best known to offer high-temperature resistance to corrosion and good mechanical features. Since it is commonly and widely been used, the chromium content in the SS makes it durable to all the applications that need weldability. Stainless Steel 409 is a general purpose, chromium, titanium stabilized, ferritic stainless steel whose primary application is automotive exhaust systems. It contains 11% chromium which is the minimum amount for the formation of the passive surface film which gives stainless steels their corrosion resistance. It combines good elevated temperature corrosion resistance with medium strength, good formability, and overall cost. It resists corrosion strongly compared to carbon steel and is used as an alternative to carbon steel in mildly challenging environments where its high resistance to corrosion and high temperature oxidation gives an advantage. It is commonly used in applications where appearance is a secondary quality to mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Grade 409 steels are also available in highly stabilized forms, such as grades S40930, S40920 and S40910. The stability of these grades is provided by the presence of niobium, titanium, or both, in the composition of steels.

Carbon steel is a steel with carbon content up to 2.1% by weight.
Steel is classified to be carbon steel when: no minimum content is specified or required for chromium, cobalt, molybdenum, nickel, niobium, titanium, tungsten, vanadium, zirconium, or any other element to be added to obtain a desired alloying effect; the specified minimum for copper does not exceed 0.40 percent; or the maximum content specified for any of the following elements does not exceed the percentages noted: manganese 1.65, silicon 0.60, copper 0.60.
The term "carbon steel" may also be used in reference to steel which is not stainless steel; in this use carbon steel may include alloy steels.
As the carbon percentage content rises, steel has the ability to become harder and stronger through heat treating; however, it becomes less ductile. Regardless of the heat treatment, a higher carbon content reduces weldability. In carbon steels, the higher carbon content lowers the melting point.
Types of Carbon Steel:
Low Carbon Steel
Mild Steel
High carbon Steel
Applications:
Fasteners and Bolts
Shafts, spindles, pins, rods, sprocket assemblies
Crankshafts, couplings, and cold headed parts.
Axles, Bolts, studs, and machine parts.
Aircraft Engine Mounts and Welded Tubing Applications.
Gears, Aircraft landing gear axles, and Shafts for power transmissions.

An alloy is a combination of metals or metals combined with one or more other elements. For example, combining the metallic elements gold and copper produces red gold, gold and silver becomes white gold, and silver combined with copper produces sterling silver. Elemental iron, combined with non-metallic carbon or silicon, produces alloys called steel or silicon steel. The resulting mixture forms a substance with properties that often differ from those of the pure metals, such as increased strength or hardness.
Alloy steel is steel that is alloyed with a variety of elements in total amounts between 1.0% and 50% by weight to improve its mechanical properties. Alloy steels are broken down into two groups: low alloy steels and high alloy steels. Every steel is an alloy, but not all steels are called "alloy steels". The simplest steels are iron (Fe) alloyed with carbon (C) (about 0.1% to 1%, depending on type). However, the term "alloy steel" is the standard term referring to steels with other alloying elements added deliberately in addition to the carbon. Common alloyants include manganese (the most common one), nickel, chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, silicon, and boron. Less common alloyants include aluminium, cobalt, copper, cerium, niobium, titanium, tungsten, tin, zinc, lead, and zirconium.
The following is a range of improved properties in alloy steels (as compared to carbon steels): strength, hardness, toughness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, hardenability, and hot hardness. To achieve some of these improved properties the metal may require heat treat.
Some of these find uses in exotic and highly-demanding applications, such as in the turbine blades of jet engines, in spacecraft, and in nuclear reactors. Because of the ferromagnetic properties of iron, some steel alloys find important applications where their responses to magnetism are very important, including in electric motors and in transformers.
Types of Alloy steel:
Low Alloy Steel.
High Alloy Steel.
The most important and desired changes in alloy steel are:
Increased hardenability.
Increased corrosion resistance.
Retention of hardness and strength
The most commonly used grades of Alloy:
Grade 4140 – Chromium Molybdenum Steel.
Grade 4340 – Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum Steel.
Grade 6150 – Chromium Vanadium Steel.
Grade 8620 – HSLA -Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum Steel.

Grade 430 is a ferritic, straight chromium, non-hard enable grade, combining good corrosion resistance and formability characteristics with useful mechanical properties. Its ability to resist nitric acid attack permits its use in specific chemical applications but automotive trim and appliance components represents its largest fields of application.
Grade 430F is the free-machining version of this grade, available in bar form for use in automatic screw machines. Grade 434 is the molybdenum bearing version of Grade 430 and has the same useful combination of properties. Its molybdenum addition improves corrosion resistance.
These properties for 430 are specified for flat rolled product (plate, sheet and coil) in ASTM A240/A240M. Similar but not necessarily identical properties are specified for other products such as forgings and bar in their respective specifications. Properties of Grade 430F are specified for bar in ASTM A582.

410 is the basic, general purpose stainless steel that is used for highly stressed parts and provides good corrosion resistance plus high strength and hardness. SS 410 contains a minimum of 11.5% chromium which is just sufficient enough to demonstrate corrosion resistance properties in mild atmospheres, steam, and many mild chemical environments. It is a general-purpose grade that is often supplied in the hardened but still machinable condition for applications where high strength and moderate heat and corrosion resistance are required. It displays maximum corrosion resistance when it’s been hardened, tempered, and then polished. Due to the hardening capabilities of this steel, other properties and the resulting performance of this material are somewhat compromised. The alloy can only effectively be used in mildly corrosive environments. It is the most widely used of the hard enable stainless steels. Heat treated 410 has mechanical properties comparable to the engineering alloy steel AISI 4130, coupled with the additional benefit of good corrosion resistance. 410 is highly resistant to atmospheric corrosion. Maximum corrosion resistance is obtained by hardening and polishing. Because 410 is an air hardening steel, it must be given a high preheat, at least 350-400°F before welding, and immediately given a full anneal before the weldment cools. Otherwise the metal will harden, and cracking is likely.
Features:
Readily welded by all standard methods.
Good corrosion resistance to atmospheric corrosion, potable water, and to mildly corrosive environments.
Its exposure to everyday activities (sports, food preparation) is generally satisfactory when proper cleaning is performed after exposure to use.
Good corrosion resistance to low concentrations of mild organic and mineral acids.
Oxidation resistant through 1500°F intermittently, 1200°F continuously.
Corrosion resistant.
Applications:
Applications requiring moderate corrosion resistance and high mechanical properties are ideal for Alloy 410. Examples of applications that frequently used Alloy 410 include:
Cutlery
Steam and gas turbine blades
Kitchen utensils
Bolts, nuts, screws
Pump and valve parts and shafts
Mine ladder rugs
Dental and surgical instruments
Nozzles
Hardened steel balls and seats for oil well pumps
Press plates
Petrochemical equipment
Firearms production
Gate valves
Mining machinery
Distillation trays.

Forged metals tend to be harder, stronger and more durable than cast forms or machined parts. The pressure alone forms the steel into the right shape, and the metal’s response to such overwhelming force tends to align the grain. That means you get more cogent internal structure and a far greater ability to withstand warping and wearing.
There are actually four general variations of a forged bar which include: round bars, square bars, flat bars and hex bars. All Metals has the forging capabilities to produce bars from the following alloy types:

Titanium
Nickel

Stainless Steel Threaded Rod is a continuous length of bar that is threaded so a nut can be screwed on from either end. All thread, Running Thread, Threaded Bar, Studding, Studs or Stainless-Steel Threaded Rod is usually Class 50 by default, but is often made to Class 70 strength in most sizes. Class 50, 70 or Class 80 refers to its Tensile Strength; with Class 50 meaning a Tensile Strength of 500MPA. Class 70 or 80 is available in various sizes. Threaded Rods Fasteners are used to create non-permanent joints i.e. joints that can be removed or dismantled without damaging the joining components. There are three major steel Threaded Rods Fasteners used in industries: Stainless steel, Carbon steel & Alloy steel. The major grade used in Stainless Steel Threaded Rods are: - 200 series, 300 series, and 400 series.
Titanium, Aluminum & other various alloys are also common materials for construction In many cases, special coatings or plating may be applied to Steel Threaded Rods Fasteners to improve their performance characteristics by, for example, Enhancing Corrosion Resistance. Common coatings/plating’s include Zinc, Chrome & Hot Dip Galvanizing (HDG).
A threaded rod is a type of a fastening bar which is relatively long & threaded on both the ends of the rod. The threading on the Stainless-Steel ACME threaded rod may be extended up to the entire length of the rod. This is also known as a stud.
Generally produced from cold-rolled stainless-steel grades. the cost of this ss threaded rod is low.
Fully Threaded Stud Bolts – The body of these threaded rods are fully covered by threads and hence are utilized for its engagement to the mating of nuts or similar fasteners.
Tap End Stud Bolts – the extreme ends of the body of the Tap End Stud Bolts are threaded with an unequal thread engagement length.
Double End Stud Bolts – These rods have equal thread length at both ends.

“Cold Roll” is the nickname for steel that is produced in the “cold rolling” method, processed at close to normal room temperatures. Cold Roll is limited to a few shapes but comes in many finishes and offers superior strength and machinability. We provide cold rolled bar in Stainless Steel grades such as 303 Stainless Steel, 304 Stainless Steel, 304L Stainless Steel, 304H Stainless Steel, 316 Stainless Steel, 316L Stainless Steel, 316H Stainless Steel, 316Ti Stainless Steel, 321 Stainless Steel, 321H Stainless Steel, 416 Stainless Steel, 347 Stainless Steel, , 310 Stainless Steel, 310S Stainless Steel etc. Cold rolled steel is essentially hot rolled steel that has had further processing. The steel is processed further in cold reduction mills, where the material is cooled (at room temperature) followed by annealing and/or tempers rolling. This process will produce steel with closer dimensional tolerances and a wider range of surface finishes. The term Cold Rolled is mistakenly used on all products, when actually the product name refers to the rolling of flat rolled sheet and coil products. When referring to bar products, the term used is “cold finishing”, which usually consists of cold drawing and/or turning, grinding and polishing.
Benefits:
Cold drawing increases the yield and tensile strengths, often eliminating further costly thermal treatments.
Turning gets rid of surface imperfections.
Grinding narrows the original size tolerance range.
Polishing improves surface finish.
All cold products provide a superior surface finish, and are superior in tolerance, concentricity, and straightness when compared to hot rolled.
Cold Drawn Round Bar is use in various Industry like
Aerospace Industry
Nuclear Power Plant Industry
